Good day Tigers!
This post is the beginning of what I hope will be a valuable way for the Tiger community to hear from the school district, and specifically from the superintendent and district administration.
With the passage of our bond measure, after receiving the Colorado BEST grant, many exciting things are already happening for the students, staff, and community members of Del Norte schools. Very soon we will be hosting a community meeting, to roll out the initial design of our new school building. At that meeting, we will discuss some of the specific changes, and how it will make all of our programs better in the future. For example, we will be discussing the move to a K-6 and 7-12 model for daily instruction. When you get a chance to see the design of the new facility, these changes will be much more obvious and clear.
In our bond campaign, we discussed the re-purposing of our current buildings, with the hope that we can make an even more positive impact in the community. The first phase of this re-purposing is complete, and our local Head Start is going to benefit from the future use of the Mesa Building (k-2, superintendent's office). In order to make this transition work, Del Norte schools will need to vacate the Mesa building this summer. Until we open our new school building, the current middle shool will house the students in K-6, and the current high school will be used by students in grades 7-12. Both building principals have great plans in place, and we will now be able to offer our 7-8 students a wider variety of choice in classes they can take.
Please keep checking the website for specific details regarding the upcoming community meetings.
See you soon,
